Featured Church: Southeast Christian Church
Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, KY averages approximately 18,000 attendees per week in 3 services and one multi-site location (Southern Indiana). The Senior Minister is Dave Stone and the Women's Ministry Leader is Debbie Scheller. In the fall of 2009, Southeast Christian's Women's Ministry included The Amazing Collection in its Bible Study offerings for the first time after receiving several recommendations from church members who were doing the study in their home. A pilot group began the summer before and provided recommendations in regard to leadership and class size.
Five classes were offered that fall with 3 in the morning and 2 in the evening. The classes filled within 2 days of open registration leaving many women unable to get in to the class. They were thrilled and astonished by the response as they were somewhat hesitant to offer a study that would last over two years. Due to the overwhelming response, two additional classes were offered in the winter 2010 session. In fall 2010 they are adding 2 more large group classes.
Debbie says, "Each semester we measure retention in all of our studies and consistently The Amazing Collection has maintained a greater than 90% retention rate which is our highest ever! The response and demand for The Amazing Collection is unlike anything we have ever seen. For the first time, we have not had any complaints or grumblings about a study- the women are enthralled with what they are learning! As the Ministry Leader, it delights me to see and hear women so genuinely excited about God's Word. Currently we have 9 classes on-campus and 6 off-campus groups. The Amazing Collection has been a tremendous blessing to the women of Southeast Christian Church".
